Elefteria Vlavianos

Exhibition Overview

541 Art Space presents the work of award winning artist Elefteria Vlavianos in their upcoming show, Re-Articulation. Elefteria was born in Zimbabwe of mixed Armenian and Greek heritage, her works draw on her multicultural heritage to investigate connection to place, culture and identity.

The paintings presented in Re-Articulation build on a series of works titled Poetic Structure, which results from an ongoing investigation into how painting facilitates the visual translation of displaced Armenian cultural aesthetic into a contemporary context. The heart of this project is an attempt to make visual that which has been rendered silent.

She stated that “the paintings that develop through this movement are never identical to the original source material but rather a vibration of an afterimage that I think of as a poetic memory of an aesthetic signature”.
